About Us

The Volunteer Services Council for Brenham State School is the only non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to working with families, staff and the community to enrich the lives of the residents of Brenham State Supported Living Center by providing fiscal and human resources beyond that which is provided by the state.

The campus of Brenham State Supported Living Center opened in 1974 and is located on 200 acres of rolling hills on US Highway 36, just south of Brenham, midway between Austin and Houston. Brenham State Supported Living Center, with its well-tended fields and wooden fences, is an integral part of rural Washington County, a comfortable country setting pleasing to visitors and residents alike. This is home to 260 adults and children with intellectual disabilities and related conditions. Brenham State Supported Living Center provides a full array of psychological, medical, habilitative, instructional and recreational services. It is under the auspices of the Department of Aging and Disability Services
